The Cub Scout Program is broken into as set of age-specific activities centered around the achievement of a specific badge of rank. Each Badge has a series of requirements outlined in the official handbook for that rank. Boys work throughout the scout year to earn the badge for that year and are awarded recognition for their efforts. Some Ranks include additional "elective" activities that allow the boy to earn extra awards and recognition.
